Hi friends, how do you learn Midjoruney and manage your prompts?
I personally drew much inspiration from PromptHero and PromptBase. Occasionally, I browse the Midjourney website, click on the images feed, explore prompts created by talented artists, and copy them to my Notion notes 🤣
However, I find it tedious to repeatedly type and memorize prompts, so I start thinking, why not just build my own prompt library using Notion AI?
So today I am sharing this Notion template that allows me to save my favorite prompts into a personalized library, and also use as shot list when collaborating with film directors to create AI films.

Step 1: Midjourney Prompt Tips
Before we start building our personalized Midjourney prompt library, let’s try prompting and imagine...
A cat.
Well, simple words works.
But to have more control over the output images, it's important to provide more context and be specific. Think of yourself as a photographer. You have to consider your subjects, the locations where you'll take the photos, the camera lens and angle you'll use, the lighting conditions, and color grading…
The techniques we use in real life, such as painting, photographing, and filmmaking, can be applied to Midjourney prompting. Midjourney's official documentation provides many useful tips to help build an effective prompt, I suggest read through it: Midjourney Prompts

As you gain more experience with prompting, you'll understand your preferred image style and identify the keywords you frequently use. It's now time to save those prompts and create your own prompt library!
Step 2: Create a personalized Midjourney prompt library using Notion and Notion AI
Let’s move to Notion, and start creating a database. If this is your first time using Notion and Notion AI, please use my affiliate link to join: https://affiliate.notion.so/p91s0f88v392.
And I suggest reading their user guide here before you continue reading this tutorial.
Now let’s add a new page in Notion, and click table to create a table view of our database
Then, create categories and add your favorite prompt keywords to your database.

Here are some categories and keywords I often use in my prompts:
- Medium: oil painting, pixel art, vector art…
- Camera angle: high angle shot, medium shot, POV, top view, fisheye view
- Lens type: 18mm, 24mm, 50mm, 18
- Style: photorealistic, surreal, fantasy, cinematic…
- Composition: asymmetrical, symmetrical, golden radio…
- Mood: gloomy, creepy, energetic…
- Lighting: natural lighting, split lighting, back lighting…

After adding categories and tags, your database should look like this:

Next, add an AI custom autofill property:

And we will use Notion AI to extract information from all categories and compile them into a completed Midjourney prompt. In the instruction, add {Category} and separate them using commas.
For example, Midjourney prompt normally looks like:
An oil painting of a woman dancing in forest, in the style of Van Gogh
So my instruction for Notion AI is like:
a {Medium} of {Subject}, in the style of {Artist}

Here's where the magic happens!
Whenever you need to write a Midjourney prompt, simply select the keywords from each category and click "AI Summary", and Notion AI will generate a prompt for you.

Step 3: Apply Notion template in AI filmmaking workflow
This Notion database template can be used not only as personal prompt library and prompt builder, but can be applied in AI filmmaking workflow.
In traditional filmmaking, a shot list is a crucial document that outlines each shot in a film or video, detailing everything that will transpire in a scene:

In the AI video or filmmaking workflow, we follow similar structure, with one key difference: creators no longer need to do live action shooting. Instead, they use AI to generate each shot (still images) and animate them (moving images).
Refer to this Google Doc, this is how I collaborate with filmmakers to discuss storyboards, prompts, styles, and track the final images produced by AI, then turn them into a short film.

You can now apply this Notion Prompt Library template to AI film projects. Feel free to add additional elements, such as storyboards and reference images.
